2019 Annual SB Mini Maker Faire

The fourth-annual Shreveport-Bossier Mini Maker Faire will be held on  Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Agricultural Building at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds, 3206 Pershing Blvd in Shreveport. The event is organized by a passionate team of professionals looking to enrich STEAM programming in North Louisiana, including members from NWLA Makerspace, Sci-Port, the North Louisiana STEM Alliance, Caddo Parish Parks & Recreation.  Maker Faire originated in 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area as a project of the editors of Make: magazine.  It has since grown into a significant worldwide network of both flagship and independently-produced events.  Read more on Maker Faire history, the Maker Movement, as well as how to start a Maker Faire or a School Maker Faire where you live. In Shreveport, the Maker Faire will help to revitalize our local economy and inspire our residents to work toward mobility and meaningful use of their talents and skills. We will accomplish this through the following efforts: Build a Network of Makers Create a showcase of creative work Offer engaging, hands-on interaction Support Grassroots Innovation Showcase and encourage diversity and inclusion - All of us are makers Whether you’re a crafter, coder, builder, inventor or performing artist, the Shreveport-Bossier Mini Maker Faire works to empower all makers to participate in the “Greatest Show and Tell on Earth.” Categories include engineering, arts, crafts, homesteading, science, young makers and other. Booths can be for workshops or performance-based or to simply show the community your creative talents. We have room for some commercial vendors and food vendors, but spots for charities and free activities have priority as it is a free community event. All vendors are strongly encouraged to have a hands-on activity while this is optional for our food vendors. Hands-on programming will be available for visitors at this free event. We hope to see you there!
