Tuesday Literary Series 19 Featuring Hong-My Basrai & Allyson Jeffredo

Islands For Writers Publishing is proud to introduce its Tuesday Literary Series. Since March 2019, Islands has provided a free monthly event featuring authors from the Inland Empire sharing their poetry, prose and insights into the creative writing culture for new, emerging and established writers.

Born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam, Hồng-Mỹ Basrai (née Lê) is fluent in Vietnamese and French. Hồng-Mỹ’s love for literature and languages was evident from a very young age. Transplanted at age twenty-two to Southern California, she picked up English and improvised with the borrowed language to make it her own. She holds a Chemical Engineering degree and some degrees of self-taught English. Hồng-Mỹ ‘s writings can be found in Eastlit Literary Journal, 2011 Writing from Inlandia Anthology, East Jasmine Review, Invisible Memoirs “Lionhearted”. She is a member of the Writers Club of Whittier.

Allyson Jeffredo is a writer and educator from the Coachella Valley. She received her Masters of Fine Arts from California State University, San Bernardino. Her chapbook, Songs After Memory Fractures, was published through Finishing Line Press. Her other work can be found at such places as Entropy Magazine, Lunch Ticket, and others. She currently serves as the Family Literacy Coordinator for the Riverside County Library System where she provides free reading and writing services to many across the County.
