Reception: Friday, January 24, 2020 6-8 pm at NNS

Nashville North Studios welcomes 2020 and the first of our Fourth Friday Art and Music Receptions. January 24th is "2020/XO", a group exhibition to welcome the New Year and carry us through Valentine's Day. Our solo exhibitor is highly admired regional painter, Doreen Khebzou. She is an avid plein aire painter so there will be some works of our favorite South Jersey locations. Doreen says of her work, "All of the paintings in this show are from direct observation or painted on location. I am drawn to the unpredictability of the challenges of painting outside and am captivated by the light and nature before me."
Our January 24th reception will bring a new array of music and art that will all tell you stories if you look and listen! We will have the opportunity to enjoy a powerhouse of a singer, Toni Teschner, who hails from Cape May County and is a regional favorite. The first time we heard her sing we realized she has power in her voice like Janis Joplins'! You will want to stop by and give a listen!
Doreen Khebzou's Art Talk will be Tuesday, 2/11/20 at 1 PM. She will speak to us about preparing for an outdoor painting session: the necessary equipment and challenges along with composition strategies and the importance of creating a striking light to dark ratio. Additionally, the necessity of the all important thumbnail sketch. Doreen's Art Workshop will take place on Tuesday 2/18 at 1 pm until 3:30 pm. Her workshop will concentrate on the importance of mixing colors and making shapes on the canvas, to capture the essence in a plein air painting, of what you see. More information and a supply list are available. Reservations are a must as space is limited for both events.
While you are at NNS, chat with Grammy nominated Jim Allison. His music studio is always busy recording and mastering works from all over the world and he can tell you about his years in Nashville and South Jersey. So if you want fabulous songs or have recording needs, please let us know. And remember to make your reservation to attend Jim's exclusive Songwriting Seminar on Sunday February 9.
