      Inocente Doc Film Screening

November is National Runaway and Homeless Youth Prevention Month and New Beginnings is hosting a film series with two films that touch on the experience of homelessness for teens and young families. Please join New Beginnings and the Bates College Harward Center for Community Partnerships on Friday, November 1st for a free screening of Inocente. Light refreshments and Q&A about youth homelessness and New Beginnings’ services in Maine will accompany each film screening – both are free and open to the public.Inocente is an Academy Award winning documentary that follows the life of Inocente, an undocumented and homeless Latina girl from San Diego. At 15, Inocente refuses to let her dream of becoming an artist be caged by her life as an undocumented immigrant forced to live homeless for the last nine years. Inocente is an intensely personal and vibrant coming of age documentary about a young artist’s fierce determination to never surrender to the bleakness of her surroundings. This free film screening is co-hosted by the Bates College Harward Center for Community Partnerships.Join us onFriday, November 1st at 7 pmBenjamin Mays Center (95 Russell St)There will be free on-site parking.Join us afterward as well for a short Q&A on the documentary. We’d like to thank Clark Insurance for sponsoring our Runaway and Homeless youth month awareness-raising events.
