A Commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the Korean War

Join Mark Albertson in a four-week series exploring the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Korean War.Week Four: Aftermath

Mark Albertson will discuss why the Korean War ended as a stalemate, with no peace treaty signed as opposed to a ceasefire agreement between the warring factions on July 27, 1953.

The French were losing in North Vietnam, the First Indochina War and were defeated at Bien Bien Phu, May 1954. The results of these two conflicts, occurring less than a year apart, had a decisive influence on policy makers in Washington.

Albertson will also discuss how the Eisenhower Administration saw the further development of America's armed forces as a result of Korea and Vietnam.About the Presenter
