      Sohail Daulatzai will give a presentation, followed by a Q&A.

      Sohail Daulatzai is an associate professor in UC Irvine’s Film and Media Studies Department, African American Studies Department, and Program in Global Middle East Studies. He is the curator of Return of the Mecca: The Art of Islam and Hip-Hop and Histories Absolved: Revolutionary Cuban Poster Art and the Muslim International and the author of Fifty Years of “The Battle of Algiers”: Past as Prologue and Black Star, Crescent Moon: The Muslim International and Black Freedom beyond America, among other publications. He also founded Razor Step, a Los Angeles–based media lab, and his film work includes a series of short videos with Yasiin Bey and a ciné-geography with Zack de la Rocha.

      Presented in partnership with Scripps Presents, the Claremont Graduate University Cultural Studies Department and Intercollegiate Department of Africana Studies.
